Children’s Christmas Picture Competition

Here are the results of the 2013 Rolvenden Children's Christmas Picture Competition 

The competition is organised jointly by Rolvenden Village Hall Management Committee and Rolvenden Parochial Church Council in conjunction with the annual Rolvenden Christmas Fayre 

A big ‘Thank You’ to all the children who entered this year. We had a record number of entries and the quality of the pictures was outstanding. If you didn’t win this year, then don’t forget to have another go in 2014.

The winning entries by age group were-:

8 to 11years

First Place  -  Ivy Pursey

Second Place - William Norman

Third Place - Nathan Fleming

4 to 7 years

First Place  - Shannon Kingston-Correia

Second Place - Evie Thomas

Third Place - Grace Smith

Two of the younger entries in the 4 to 7 years group were exceptionally good for their age and have been Highly Commended

These three entries were awarded joint First Place because they were so good.

An Art Competition for All Junior School Children

Every year the Rolvenden Children’s Christmas Picture Competition is run in conjunction with the Rolvenden Christmas Fayre.
 
The competition is organised jointly between Rolvenden Village Hall and Rolvenden Church. The Christmas Fayre will be held in Rolvenden Village Hall on Saturday 30th November from 2pm to 4.30pm and all entries will be displayed at the Christmas Fayre.


Winning pictures will also be shown on this page of the Rolvenden Village Hall website. We want as many entries as possible in each of the three age categories, so please get out your paints, pencils, crayons or felt tips etc. and get painting!  The rules of the competition are shown below, and....

Further Information and the Rules to the Competition...

This competition is organised jointly by Rolvenden Village Hall Management Committee and Rolvenden Parochial Church Council and in conjunction with Rolvenden Christmas Fayre.

Who can enter?
  • Any child up to age 11 with a connection with Rolvenden, a resident, a pupil at the school, a frequent visitor to a relative in the village.
Categories:
  • Pre-school – picture of Father Christmas or a Christmas Tree or both
  • Age 4 to 7 – design the front of a Christmas Card
  • Age 8 to 11 – design the front of a Christmas Card with a greeting for the inside
Hints to designing a card:
  • Fill up all the page. The card will be the design reduced down to an A5 size.
  • Keep the design bold. Don’t get too fiddly.
  • Use a few bright colours.
Competition Rules:
  1. One entry per child, to be the child’s own work within the capabilities of the child’s age. 
  2. All entries to have the full name, address and age of the child clearly written on the back of the picture
  3. Pre-school entries to be on A4 paper or card using pencil, crayon, felt tip or paint and, if liked, collage material, cotton wool etc. NO GLITTER. Picture to be of Father Christmas or a Christmas Tree or Father Christmas with a Christmas Tree
  4. 4 to 7 years entries to be on A4 paper or card in pencil, crayon, felt tip or paint. NO GLITTER, NO COLLAGE. Picture to be any design for a Christmas Card
  5. 8 to 11 years entries to be on A4 paper or card in pencil, crayon, felt tip or paint. NO GLITTER, NO COLLAGE. Picture to be any design for a Christmas Card and to have attached an additional A4 sheet with a Christmas Greeting for inclusion on the inside of the card
  6. All entries to be received by 4:00pm on Thursday 28th November. They can be taken to Rolvenden School that morning or left in St Mary’s from 2:00pm onwards. If you need to make other arrangements, please call Judy Vinson on 01580 241504 before 28th November.
  7. The best three entries in each category will be chosen by John Hamilton and his decision is final.
  8. Prizes will be awarded as follows:
    • The winners and two runners up in each category will receive art materials.
    • In addition the first placed in the 4 to 7 and 8 to 11 categories will be given a dozen Christmas Cards and envelopes made up from their own design.
  9. All entries will be displayed in the Village Hall at the Christmas Fayre. Some or maybe all, depends on the number of entries, will be posted onto the Village Hall Website
